The Buffalo Bills have decided to part ways with General Manager Doug Whaley, as well as the entire scouting staff. This decision comes hours after the 2017 NFL Draft. ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported the firing around 8 a.m. eastern.

Since new Head Coach Sean McDermott was hired, he has taken over the team in every way. Whaley had reportedly been phased out completely prior to the draft. In another report from Buffalo, they have had plans to fire Whaley months ago. The Pegulas have had a very busy month, firing the Sabres head coach and GM within two weeks of each other.

Looking ahead who are the possible options to replace Whaley as GM in Buffalo? McDermott reportedly is pushing for Panthers assistant GM Brandon Beane to be named GM. Also from the Panthers Don Gregory, currently Carolina’s Director of Player Personnel. Chris Polian, son of former Buffalo GM Bill Polian, is a third option for Buffalo.

It seems that McDermott is looking for someone that he’s had experience with before, as well as a successful candidate. It will be interesting to see how this plays out especially with the draft concluding Saturday.
